Harvesting Heritage: The Legacy of Lincoln Ridge Farms

Lincoln Ridge FarmsNestled on the historic Lincoln Highway, Lincoln Ridge Farms is a testament to tradition, innovation, and family heritage.

Established in 1919, the farm has been a cornerstone of the community for over a century, evolving from a Guernsey cattle farm into a vibrant destination for fresh produce and family fun. Managed by the fourth, fifth, and sixth generations of the Thomas family, the farm now has apple and peach orchards, vineyards, "UPICK" strawberries, and pumpkins. Owners Jeff and Cathy Thomas' commitment to maintaining the farm's legacy while embracing new opportunities has made Lincoln Ridge Farms a beloved landmark in the community. Lincoln Ridge Farms

Lincoln Ridge Farms offers a place where the sweet scent of ripe apples fills the air, children's laughter echoes from the corn maze, and families gather to celebrate the changing seasons. In 1987, the first of many farm market buildings was built, paving the way for the annual Fall Mums & Pumpkin Festival.

What began as a modest event with hay wagon rides, a simple corn maze, and 'roast your own' hot dogs has grown into a much-anticipated celebration with more than 30 attractions. Today, visitors can enjoy pig races, Pumpkin Chunkin, hayrides to pick their own pumpkins, and a wide variety of festival foods, including kettle corn, fresh apple cider, and hot, freshly made donuts.

Lincoln Ridge FarmsLincoln Ridge FarmsThe farm's rich history is intertwined with stories of the past. Native Americans once visited the area to tap the sugar maples for syrup and hunt game along the ridge. The Thomases honor their heritage by planting sugar maples and preserving artifacts like arrowheads and pounding stones found on their land. The farm's location on Lincoln Highway adds another layer of historical charm, going back to Jeff's childhood, where he sold tomatoes and sweet corn to travelers along this route. Lincoln Ridge Farms

The farm has hosted numerous memorable events. One event was the signing of a renewable energy contract between Ohio State University (OSU) and Iberdrola (now Avangrid Renewables) in 2013. The event was a memorable day as it was attended by special guests, elected officials, OSU's dean, the Ohio State football team, cheerleaders, and mascot Brutus the Buckeye.

Another highlight in the farm's history recently happened in February 2023, when the Thomases moved a massive 40x100x40 foot, 100-year-old barn nearly a mile over frozen fields to its new home at Lincoln Ridge Farms. This 102-ton structure, initially slated for demolition, found new life, thanks to the Thomases. The move was viewed by half a million people from Ohio, Indiana, and beyond. The barn, now named the Legacy Barn, is used for all types of special events. It has become a stunning venue for special events and a testament to the family's dedication to preserving history. Lincoln Ridge Farms

Lincoln Ridge FarmsIn addition to the barn, the Thomas family also restored the 'Sugar Ridge Church,' turning it into the 'Olde 1884 Church.' This historic venue now hosts numerous events and weddings.

Their ever-present daughter Alison Thomas, plays a vital role in keeping Lincoln Ridge Farms connected with its community. Utilizing Facebook, Alison ensures that loyal and new followers are up to date on the latest happenings at the farm and schedules school tours to the pumpkin patch. She also plays an important role in online awareness and marketing through radio and billboards. She's been working hard alongside her mom and dad since she was 8 years old.

Lincoln Ridge Farms is more than just a place to buy farm fresh fruits and vegetables; it's a destination where traditions are made, and memories are cherished. From its annual Pumpkin Festival to the picturesque beauty of its historic venues, the farm offers a unique blend of agricultural heritage and community celebration. Visitors leave with smiles on their faces, baskets full of fresh produce, and hearts full of fond memories. Lincoln Ridge FarmsLincoln Ridge Farms
