The Value of Your Midwest Electric Membership

Proud to provide great value to our members since 1936

Midwest Electric is committed to providing members with reliable electricity at historically stable and affordable rates. Our members can power their lives for an average cost of just $7 per day!

Being a member of Midwest Electric means so much more than paying your electric bill each month. As a member, you are also an owner of the co-op and have the power to help influence the future of Midwest Electric. Because we work for you, we take your feedback seriously while striving to maintain your trust and best interests.

Here are a few more valuable ways we serve our members:

  1. At-cost, stable rates
As a not-for-profit, we provide stable, competitive rates. Midwest Electric provides its members with several savings opportunities, including rebates and energy audits, and offers a peak load management program to help keep rates low. Each year, Midwest Electric returns excess revenue to its members in the form of patronage cash back. Since the co-op was founded, it has returned more than $44 million to members!

  2. Superior power reliability
Our linemen work around the clock to provide you with reliable power. When a power outage occurs, members are kept up to date with real-time outage notifications and can keep an eye on power restoration efforts through our outage map. Calls are answered live by our friendly, helpful member service representatives.

  3. Friendly live service
One of the many benefits of being served by Midwest Electric is having the ability to easily reach a member of our team when you need support. Unlike most investor-owned utilities, our phone lines are not recorded. Even when you need help after hours, your phone call will be answered.

  4. Easy-to-understand bills
Midwest Electric breaks down its bills in a way that is easy to read and understand, without including unnecessary information. We also offer a clear break down of bills online to help members further understand what's on their monthly bills. Plus, because we know that each of our members have unique needs and preferences, Midwest Electric offers numerous easy ways for them to pay their bills.

  5. Dedicated to our communities
Midwest Electric’s Community Connection Fund donated $60,000 to local charities last year, thanks to 90% of members who rounded up their electric bills. Safety is our priority. We provided 1,300 individuals with electric safety demonstrations last year. Midwest also prioritizes investing in its youngest members by providing numerous scholarship opportunities to local high school seniors each year.
