Twelve area high school seniors were awarded a Children of Members Scholarship from Midwest Electric, Inc. Two first-place students received $1,500, two second-place students received $1,000, two third-place students received $750, and six honorable mention students received $500 each toward their college education. The winners include:
First place, $1,500
Anna Roessner, Fort Recovery High School, plans to attend Hillsdale College and study Mathematics. Anna was selected as the top overall applicant and will also participate in the statewide competition held by Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives in Columbus.
Braden Keller, St. Marys Memorial High School, plans to attend The Ohio State University and study Actuarial Science.
Second place, $1,000
Alexis Wentz, Pandora-Gilboa High School, plans to attend the University of Cincinnati and study Nursing.
Alexavier Samples, Parkway High School, plans to attend Miami University and study Accounting.
Third place, $750
Kera Dorsten, St. Marys Memorial High School, plans to attend The Ohio State University – Lima and study Education.
Daniel Everman, Marion Local High School, plans to study Business at an undecided university.
Honorable Mention, $500
Reese Rable, St. Marys Memorial High School, plans to attend The Ohio State University and study Exercise Science.
Zara Spees, St. Marys Memorial High School, plans to attend Kent State University and study Radiation Therapy.
Olivia Broering, Coldwater High School, plans to study Kinesiology at an undecided university.
Bennett Kill, Lincolnview High School, plans to attend Ohio State University and study Finance, Pre-law.
Bennett Glass, St. Marys Memorial High School, plans to attend Wright State University and study Mechanical Engineering.
Drew Backs, Fort Recovery High School, plans to attend Wright State University – Lake Campus and study Agriculture Business.
Touchstone Energy Achievement Scholarship - Tech or Trade School, $1,500
The $1,500 Touchstone Energy Achievement Scholarship winner was Marley Haunhorst from Delphos St. Johns High School. The scholarship is awarded to a student that will be attending a technical college or trade school after high school. Following graduation, Marley plans to attend the University of Northwest Ohio and study Digital Forensics.
