
Six area high school seniors were awarded a Children of Members Scholarship from Midwest Electric. Each student received $1,500 toward their college education after graduation. The winners include:
Drew Guggenbiller, Maria Stein, will graduate from Marion Local High School and plans to attend Wright State University - Lake Campus to pursue a degree in Biology. Drew was selected as the top overall applicant and will also participate in a statewide competition held by Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives in Columbus. He will compete against students from Ohio’s 23 other electric cooperatives for a chance to win up to $4,100 in additional scholarships. Drew Guggenbiller was awarded a $1,700 scholarship at Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives’ Children of Members Scholarship competition, held on April 12, 2023.
Emma Core, Spencerville High School, plans to study Civil Engineering at the University of Toledo.
Jackson Monroe, St. Marys Memorial High School, plans to attend Ohio Northern University and major in Pharmacy.
Jayden Felver, St. Marys Memorial High School, will pursue a degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine at the University of Findlay.
Carter Ringwald, Spencerville High School, plans to study Exercise Science at Tiffin University.
Darcie Liming, St. Marys Memorial High School, plans to attend the University of Tennessee and major in Civil Engineering.
The $2,000 Touchstone Energy Achievement Scholarship winner was Elizabeth Huwer from St. Henry High School. The scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing a college education while displaying the Touchstone Energy core values of accountability, integrity, innovation, and commitment to community, as well as their drive and dedication to achieving a college education despite any personal obstacles or special challenges that they have faced. Following graduation, Elizabeth plans to attend either Wright State University - Lake Campus or Franciscan University to study Middle School Education.
