Midwest Electric recently donated $14,640 to 17 west-central Ohio charities and community projects through the cooperative’s Community Connection Fund.
Thanks to the 90% of members who round up their electric bill and donate to this fund, Midwest Electric has provided $1.4 million to local charitable causes since 1998.
The latest CCF grant recipients include:
- CHP Home Care & Hospice; $800 to provide meals for the adult day care center.
- Mercer County D.A.R.E.; $1,000 to fund the D.A.R.E. graduation party and supplies.
- Lima Symphony Orchestra; $500 for the Young People's Concert.
- Crossroads Crisis Center; $1,300 to provide special assistance to survivors.
- The Delphos Canal Commission; $800 for window, lighting, and security upgrades.
- New Knoxville Christmas in the Village; $750 for the Christmas in the Village event.
- Grand Lake Area Literature Festival; $500 to purchase awards for the Grand Lake Area Literature Festival.
- JTD Hospital Foundation; $850 for the Child Wellness event.
- Back the Blue; $1,200 to provide individual first aid kits for officers.
- St. Marys Middle School Game Club; $500 to support the Tailgate for Cancer.
- Capabilities Charitable Fund; $1,200 to assist people with disabilities seeking employment
- St. Marys Tailgate for Cancer; $500 to support the tailgate for Cancer.
- Advocates for Compassion; $1,000 to assist caregivers in the community.
- Children's Hometown Holiday; $750 for the Ice skating rink at the Christmas celebration.
- Christmas Jubilee; $1,000 to assist families in the Wapakoneta School District to ensure everyone has a joyous holiday season.
- Miracle Meal; $1,000 to purchase food and supplies for their meal at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds.
- Auglaize County Historical Society; $990 to purchase banners displaying the historic barns of Auglaize County.
The Midwest Electric Community Connection Fund is a voluntary charitable program. Participating members monthly electric bills are rounded up to the next dollar, with the additional pennies deposited in the Fund. A Board of Trustees, composed of nine cooperative members and separate from the Midwest Electric Board of Trustees, oversee the application and allocation process.
