Midwest Electric Scholarships

Midwest Electric is proud to offer numerous scholarship opportunities for high school seniors.
Children of Members Scholarships
Midwest Electric will award scholarships to local students through a competitive process with other applicants. The top applicant will compete for up to $4,600 in additional scholarships from Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives during the statewide competition in Columbus.
(2) $1,500 - First place boy, first place girl
(2) $1,000 - Second place boy, second place girl
(2) $750 - Third place boy, third place girl
Six $500 scholarships
Please read the scholarship rules before applying. To qualify, you must:
- Be the child or legal ward of a Midwest Electric residential member living in a residence receiving electric service from the cooperative. Grandchildren and other relatives of cooperative members are not eligible to apply unless the applicant is the member's legal ward.
- Children and legal wards of Midwest Electric's commercial members are not eligible unless their parents or guardians are also residential members.
- Be a graduating high school senior. College students and those beginning their college careers, but not high school seniors, are not eligible.
- Have a grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale or equivalent standing on a non-traditional scale.
- Deadline to apply is February 13, 2026.
2026 Children of Members Scholarship Application
- Be prepared to upload the following: letter of recommendation, transcript, and photo.
- GPA, class rank, and ACT score are also required
Trade School or Technical College Scholarship
Midwest Electric will award this scholarship to one high school senior attending a technical college or trade school after graduation.

Please read the Trade School or Technical College Scholarship rules before applying for the scholarship. To qualify, you must:
- Be the child or legal ward of a Midwest Electric residential member living in a residence receiving electricity from the cooperative. Grandchildren and other relatives of cooperative members are not eligible unless the applicant is the legal ward of the member.
- Be a graduating high school senior. College students and those beginning their college careers, but not high school seniors, are not eligible.
- Have a grade point average of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent standing on a non-traditional scale.
- Be attending an accredited technical college or trade school after high school. A proper vocational or technical school is a post-secondary institution where credits can be transferred to a state-accredited four-year college.
- Deadline to apply is February 13, 2026.

Annual Meeting Scholarship
The $1,000 Annual Meeting Scholarship is open to any Midwest Electric member who will be a college student in the fall of 2026. Members, or children of members, must enter at the 2026 Annual Meeting on June 4, 2026, where the winner will be chosen by random drawing during the business portion of the annual meeting. The student must be present to win.
The money will be disbursed in February 2027, following confirmation of college enrollment and a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Current or past scholarship winners of the Children of Members Scholarship or the Technical College or Trade School Scholarship are not eligible to participate.
