Midwest Electric recently made a $360,000 zero-interest loan to Mercer County for infrastructure for an expansion of the Marion Township Industrial Park. This will improve the sanitary, storm, and water system as well as roads for the park in Maria Stein.
As Mercer County repays the loan, the money will go into a revolving loan fund, allowing Midwest Electric to make additional loans in the future. This aligns with the co-op's guiding principle of "Concern For Community," empowering the community and helping support local economic development and jobs here at home.
“Strong water and sewer infrastructure is critical to Ohio communities’ ability to be economically competitive,” said U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH). “This funding will help attract jobs and businesses to the area, and spur future investment in Mercer County.”
