Midwest Electric members have an opportunity to tour the Cardinal Power Plant, which is owned collectively by Ohio's Electric Cooperatives and is the backbone of the generation sources from which our members receive electricity. The Cardinal plant, located along the Ohio River in Brilliant, has more than $1 billion in emission control equipment and is recognized as one of the cleanest-operating coal-fired generation stations in the country.
Tour details:
- Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025
- Meet at Midwest Electric's office, 06029 County Road 33A, St. Marys, by 6:45 a.m.
- The bus leaves at 7:00 a.m.
- Breakfast snacks, coffee, juice, and water will be provided before departure.
- Lunch and dinner are included
- Return to Midwest Electric around 8:00 p.m.
- $50 per member
Tour requirements:
- Open to co-op members age 12 and older
- Closed-toe walking shoes required
- Safety gear (provided) must be worn during the tour
- Participants must be able to walk independently and navigate stairs, as the tour requires a considerable amount of walking.
